Their journey began with family BBQs many years ago. Over the years, many of their extended family members lived in places known for great BBQ such as Daytona, Orlando, Roanoke, and Oak Island. With their growing knowledge and experience in the pits, their BBQs became better and better! Eventually it became apparent: they had to do something bigger with their delicious creations! During the winter of 2015/2016 their journey began…

Before COVID-19, BBQ Babes only did festivals spread across Ontario including Tweed Stampede, Ottawa PoutineFest, Fall for Kingston, Back to the Farm: McKinnon Bros, YGK BeerFest, and their favourite all-over-Ontario tour: Poutine Feast! Now that COVID-19 is here they’ve had to adapt to the stationary food truck lifestyle and are enjoying the daily local life.

The BBQ Babes use apple wood and a smoker to cook their meats to perfection. Low and slow is the name of the game, so most meat is smoked overnight, fresh for the next day. Once it is tenderly cooked, the beef brisket is hand cut, and the pork shoulders and whole chickens are hand pulled. The BBQ sauces are made from scratch so you can expect a one-of-a-kind taste on all your BBQ items! No cutting corners with these gals—The more hand-made, the better!

Rhonda (on the left) is a nurse at Kingston General Hospital. Rhonda is the brains of the operation looking after all the paperwork, inspections and everything else that brings Danielle anxiety. Rhonda’s favourite item on the menu is brisket—On a sandwich, on a poutine, or even on its own! She is also a lover of wine and fine cheeses as well as being out in the sun. We have to say, she tans very, very well.

Danielle (on the right) is behind the recipes, the one working the smoker and BBQ and doing all the social media. When she isn’t slinging meat around, she’s singing the ABC’s with kindergartens as a teacher with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. Danielle’s favourite item on the menu is the award winning pulled pork poutine! She really, really loves her dog, poutine, anything off the BBQ and Hellman’s mayonnaise.
